Story
The Dartmoor 70 Challenger is a 70 mile two day event across some of the most challenging terrain in the UK. Starting and finishing at Okehampton battle camp the path winds it way over moorland, through fords, over ridges, valleys and Tors to Princetown and beyond and then back again. The path is designed to be a test of willpower and endurance for the full 70 miler but also allows segments to be joined and left should participants want to do a smaller route to fit into their abilities.
The first half of the course shadows to RM Commando test march route and will take roughly 12 hours to complete whilst the second half runs up the spine of Dartmoor and traverses several large Tors including the mammoth 621 M High Willhays. The entire challenge has an elevation gain twice that of Scafell Pike.
The Challenge is fully supported and insured with medical and support teams on standby throughout
The minimum segment is 6 miles with easily reachable Rvs at the end of each checkpoint.
Entrants should be able to walk at least 10 miles on rough terrain unaided if they wanted to consider a smaller segment and considerably fitter should they wish to attempt 20/30/70 miler segments etc.
