Story
Steven Sims was a great man. Always smiling. An fantastic wit.
I played rugby with, worked with and was friends with Stevie for a brief spell where our paths overlapped at the University of St Andrews.
5 minutes was enough to get an approximation of the measure of the man. I say an approximation as he was such a great guy, it's hard to quantify.
In May last year Steven died suddenly as a result of ITP, a rare blood disease. He was an outstanding rugby player, captain of the University RFC, a talented musician - the top gun theme on the bagpipes at 2am being a fond memory. Importantly he was a great and loyal friend to all who knew him.
So, remebering him and his spirit for life, I'm going for a wee run in March around Bath.
The Charities Wooden Spoon and ITP Support were chosen by his family as places they would like people to donate to in his memory.
Wooden Spoon is a Charity for disadvantaged kids set up by the British and Irish Rugby Unions
ITP Support helps patients and their families cope with the challenges presented by the disease.
