Story
In the 1980s my mother was diagnosed with Early Onset Altzheimers. When she died, she didn't even remember my Dad, after 63 years of marriage.Three years ago my big sister was also diagnosed. She has had medication since then, which I'm sure has slowed down progression of the disease. She is lovely, funny, smart, still plays the piano, still has a beautiful singing voice. But as she says, she doesn't have a memory any more, she has a 'forgettery'! I want it to be slowed down as long as possible
Family members feel so helpless, that is why I am hopefully walking 100 miles in September, for Altzheimers Society, so the amazing work they do, can continue. Please help me, with a donation, or walking with me if you feel energetic, or passing details of my walk ,to others who might like to support us
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
