Story
Avon Fire & Rescue Service are proud to be supporting Emily Kingman from Radstock Fire Station in fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Come and join us on the 20th November at Radstock Fire Station for an open morning of getting to know your local firefighters and enjoying some delicious coffee and cake.
Not able to attend? You can donate via this page, and all donations will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Emily Kingman, Firefighter at Radstock, is organising this event. She told us about why she felt it was important to support Macmillan:
"Macmillan give families such fantastic support during some of the worst times in people’s lives. They give comfort, empathy and a shoulder to lean on during events that no one wants to experience during their lifetime.
They support the person that has cancer as well as their families. Cancer has effected too many of my family members this year and the nurses have been fantastic for them. I want to arrange this event in my community and raise funds to support the nurses.
It's time we brought the community together over some coffee and cake after the most pressured times all the emergency services and NHS staff have been through.
The Firefighters at Radstock are putting on their baking hats and volunteering on the day. We will also be doing a Road Traffic Collision demonstration and a recruitment team will be attending as we are currently recruiting On-Call Firefighters at Radstock station.’"
