Story
In case you do not know me, my name is Aurélie, I am currently a 3rd year undergraduate at the University of Kent and I lost my father to cancer last summer. As he had repeatedly been battling cancer for over a decade, I am well acquainted with the insidious physical and psychological effects the disease has on the affected, but also on those close to them, which is why I think that everything should be done to stop it.
This race means an awful lot to me, because not only does it include an activity that helped me keep my sanity during a very difficult time, but it is also a great opportunity for me to commemorate my father to whom I owe most of my worst and best personality traits. And although a lot of them like my stubbornness do not always work in my favour, I believe it is due to the interplay of all of them that I successfully got where I am now and that I make the right decisions most of the time.
During the weeks to come, I will upload occasional snapshots from my running routes and pictures hopefully documenting improvements on my running speed.
Please consider sponsoring me. A pound or two are already more than enough to show that you care.
Thank you.
