Story
We’re a Mum and Daughter team with friends supporting us. Audrey has had breast cancer four times. Between the third and fourth time last year she also had a benign growth partly removed from her thoracic spine, leaving her with pain and limited movement. Earlier this year she found out she carries the BRCA2 gene putting her at a high risk of breast cancer and also ovarian cancer so more surgery awaits.
Maggies have been a consistent presence throughout this time. The warmth and kindness of the welcome and the skills of the staff team have been a huge support and made this really challenging time easier to cope with. In the past Audrey has had one to one support, has attended meditation and tai chi and this year plans to join the creative writing group. They even managed to light up Andy’s and Chris smiles by giving them donated tickets for a six nations rugby game. When life is tough even the little things make a big difference. Maggies feels like a huge friend we can lean on and learn from.
Now the attentive will be wondering how Audrey will do this 6 mile walk! On her scooter is the answer! That may seem a bit like cheating but for her it’s liberation. She will need more painkillers that night and days to recover but it’s so important to her to be part of it, to raise awareness and raise support and to walk alongside her daughter who is an immense support and is also great fun. Times like these are precious. Your support will make all the difference to many like our family.
Please help me raise money for Maggie's so that they can provide free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer.
With your help we can make sure that people with cancer and their friends and family get the support they need.
Thank you for your generosity.
