Predict. Prevent. Protect. You could call it our mantra. As the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer, we’re committed to freeing the world from the disease altogether. Unlike many cancer charities, we’re focused on preventing, rather than curing. Promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, we believe we can stop the problem before it starts. And being situated at the only breast cancer prevention centre in the UK, we’re right at the front-line in the fight against the disease.

I am a keen long distance outdoor swimmer. In 2019 I was diagnosed with highly invasive breast cancer. A year of surgery chemo and radiotherapy ended all my plans for swims that year…..including a channel relay.

COVID then wrecked everyone’s plans in 2020. I swam my channel relay in sept 2020 8 months after finishing treatment . I then attempted a solo one way of Lake Windermere a few weeks later. Sadly I didn’t manage the full 10.5 miles….I simply didn’t have the stamina or fitness yet.

So 2021 sees me taking on Windermere again and this time I will do it.

I want to give something back to others who are currently going through what I have  been through and also to maybe inspire others to not let cancer define you…..we are all stronger than we think.
