Story
Now then boys and girls,
One bleak Sunday morning on the way to play football on the worst pitch in Nuneaton, out of nowhere I suddenly felt very charitable. Having not ridden a bike for a good 10 years (probably longer) it was decided that was probably too long and after a bit of debate myself (John McStay), Chris Shipley, Danny Armiger and Nathan Whitehead thought it would be a good idea to set ourselves a challenge on behalf of our local Sunday league football team (Attleborough Potters) to raise money for charity.
The challenge we have set ourselves is to cycle from Trafalgar Square in London and eventually after a 3 day slog rock up at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This will involve cycling a total of 240 miles (80 miles a day for 3 days), hopefully most of the journey will be downhill and if this plan fails we may have to resort to some of Lance Armstrong’s special ‘tips’. We will be setting off in the early hours of the 8 May and all things being well arriving in Paris late on the 10 May for a well earned chalice of Stella and onion baguette.
The charity we have chosen is Marie Curie cancer care who do a fantastic job of treating terminally ill patients with zero funding. I am sure you will all agree this is a great cause and hopefully with your help we can raise enough money to help them as much as we can.
We all know the doom and gloom of the economy so any amount of money you can spare would be much appreciated and we will be sure to keep you posted on how we get on (no close ups in our lycra though)…
