Story
What started out as a drunken conversation led to the three of us deciding to put our arses through their paces and cycle the 127.5 miles of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in one go. We like a challenge, this time last year we climbed Ben Nevis, Scarfell and Snowden in 22.5 hours completing the 24 hour Three Peak Challenge raising over £1,500 for SANDS Charity. This year we decided to give to a local charity that has affected us all in one way or another.
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a dominant feature throughout the North of England and at 127.5m long makes it the largest canal in Europe. We are hoping it will it take us 15 hours to cycle it's length (though a more realistic target would be 3 weeks), we are starting from Liverpool at 6am with three standard mountain bikes, an RAF officer, a Sports Management Student and an 18 stone Quantity Surveyor
Our training for this has consisted of approx 600 miles over the past month and a half, or in Oliver's case, 18.4 miles on Tuesday the 25th of May. We live by the Motto of the seven P's, "Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performances", Oliver's is "Mind over Matter".
Pendleside Hospice is heavily reliant on donations and gifts needing circa £2.35M a year towards its annual costs which are in excess of £3.2M as it only receives about £850K from central funds. Without these donations and gifts it couldn't do the amazing work it does and so we’re asking you to dig deep and support us as we cycle the 127.5m length of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in a day on Sunday 30th May.
So please sponsor us now.
Thank you.
