Oxford Half Marathon 2021 · 17 October 2021 ·

Homeless Oxfordshire provides an open door for people whose lives have been shaped by trauma and disadvantage; offering safety, stability and support when it is needed most.

Story

On Sunday 17th October, Belinda, Jakob, Elliot, Imogen and Sian from the Department of Physics, University of Oxford will be running a combined distance of over 100km during the Oxford Half-Marathon. We all signed up independently but have formed a support group to get us through the highs and lows of training!

We hope our combined effort can raise awareness of homelessness in Oxford and inspire people to donate to this important local charity.

The group have different levels of running experience. Sian only started running in October 2020 and it will be Belinda, Sian, Jakob and Elliot's first half-marathon race.

The charity: Homeless Oxfordshire help homeless and vulnerably housed people reclaim their lives and get out of homelessness for good. They are the largest provider of supported temporary accommodation for homeless adults in the county. Each night they accommodate 220 people. But they are more than bricks and mortar. Through 11 innovative projects, Homeless Oxfordshire also provide person-centred support to give homeless people control and independence.
