Story

Some of you may or may not know that 3 weeks ago during my training I partially ruptured my achilles tendon and inflamed the sheath in which the tendon sits. This has led to me being unable to train since - instead I have been visiting an Osteopath, icing my injury as often as I can, taking anti-inflammatories and taking ice baths every morning in an attempt to try and get to a level where I would at least be able to participate in the run, even if I was unable to achieve a time I believed myself capable of.

Last Thursday was my deadline to be fit and took my first run to road test the injury and unfortunately after a 45 minute jog the injury flared up again and as a result I have succeeded in setting it back by 2 weeks and got my limp back!

Due to the above I am absolutely devestated to inform you that I am not going to be able to particpate in the Marathon this year. I am devestated on a personal level but also because I hate to feel as if I have let those down who have supported me with their donations.

If there is a slight silver-lining it is that I have managed to negotiate with my charity that I am able to defer my place until next year and in addition all of your generous sponsorships can be carried forward also.

Once again, apologies, and a massive thank you for all of your donations; myself and my charity greatly appreciate your support.

Many thanks

Astrid xx
