Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am going to be swimming 1 mile in Lake Windermere AND in Loch Lomond on 14th June 2014 and the 23rd August as part of the Great Swim series. I will also be taking part in a sprint Triathlon in Cumbria at the end of September. I will be dedicating my efforts to St Michaels Hospice, The Peter Wormald Trust which is an exceptional place and holds a special place in so many  hearts of people from all over the country.

My dear friend, Isla's Dad, Peter Wormald, who sadly died on the 23rd April 2014 after a 4 year battle with prostate cancer. St Michaels Hospice offered Peter a place of focused care and respite. The care he received was of the up most highest and that we will remember forever.

Saint Michael’s exists to improve the lives of people in the Harrogate district who are affected by terminal illness. But, as an independent charity that receives less than 20 per cent funding from the government, they rely on voluntary donations from people like you to make this happen.

They estimate that at any one time more than 50,000 local people could be affected by terminal illness, whether they are living with it themselves or know someone who is.

In the last five years St Michaels have doubled the number of people we care for- now helping more than 2,400 patients and their families each year.

They receive very little government funding, so rely on donations from people like yourself to help keep the hospice doors open.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
