Story
Andrew Hirst, or ‘Drew’ to his friends, was a caring and compassionate young man. Drew was possibly the most stereotypical, big-hearted Yorkshireman you would ever meet, wearing his flat cap with pride and never admitting that the temperature was cold! His unquestionable heart for people was displayed by his volunteer work with his church, The Salvation Army, helping those in need and giving his time to help those less fortunate than himself.
Drew would often be found on a Saturday traveling the country with his friends and girlfriend Vikki to watch his beloved Leeds United, adorned in shorts no matter what the weather!
On 24th August 2015, Drew tragically suffered a fatal heart attack, a couple of weeks after his 23rd birthday. The hole that he left in the lives of his friends and family cannot be measured with words.
The Big Heart Bike Ride across Costa Rica
undertaken by Associated Optical will benefit Heart UK, a charity that
supported the Hirst family in the darkest of times.
