Story
I am running to raise money for a University of Brighton run project - 'A School for Malagiri'.
This charity is supporting the construction and running of a new school for local children aged 3 to 8 in Malagiri, a small village in a remote area of Nepal. Many young children in this rural area do not receive an education as they are not able to manage the strenuous two hour walk to the local government school.
No one in the village can read or write and the community get 'ripped off' for prices for their crops because they cannot do the maths etc. Many of the boys end up living on the streets of Kathmandu and many of the girls get 'trafficked' as child labour into India or Gulf States.
The school has now been built and the University needs to raise approximately £20,000 per year to run and maintain the school.
Please note that although the charity appears as the University of Brighton, the money will go direct to the project and the University can increase this amount. Thank you for reading and your support.
