Story
Hey everyone!
My three little tots and I are joining the effort initiated by the Read Foundation to raise a total of £90 000 to build a school for underprivileged children in Kashmir, Pakistan. According to UNICEF, Pakistan has the world's second highest number of out of school children (up to 44% of children aged 5-6 are not attending school in the country). This results in continued deprivation and poverty as these children are unable to lift themselves and their families out of this cycle.
The area to build a school in has been identified due to the poor quality of public education in the locality. Consequently, scores of young bright minds remain deprived of their right to quality education and become vulnerable to different forms of exploitation. Girls, in particular, are to submit to a life of domestic labour, early-age marriages, or other social disparities. Inadequate opportunities for a quality education are a major contributing factor towards poverty.
In order to support this cause, we are doing a 7km walk in Richmond Park on the 26th September!! It's green, scenic and has deer! I would be really grateful if you could help me reach my target and further spread the word :)
I truly believe that education is a basic human right and as such no child deserves to be left behind. The children of today will be the citizens of tomorrow, therefore shaping their society and the world. Lets try and make tomorrow's world slightly better by giving these children the gift of education and lifting not only the individual, but their whole families out of poverty.
Thank you in advance!
