Just an update on Sunday's run:
To start with, we both made it! Stumbling across the finish line, mum and I finished the race in the respective times of 2 hrs 30 mins and 1 hrs 38 mins.
We began our race at Midsummer Common, a huge park area turned into an event village filled with runners representing different charities or running professionally. The course led us through the city centre, passing the gorgeous King's College and over the River Cam. The last 5km were tough: energy low, desperate to finish, we ran through Jesus College past a crowd of cheering spectators. It was a fantastic event: support throughout Cambridge really spurred us on at times when the finish seemed so distant!
Further breakdown of the course and results are up on the Cambridge Half Marathon website if you're interested. It's definitely an event we'd recommend if you're looking to run/walk your first half marathon somewhere flat with inspiring support.
Thank you for all the support everyone has given. We never expected to raise over £700 in a week. All the money raised for EACH and all the encouraging messages we've received have really driven us on.
The knowledge that you have provided support for a young child with life-threatening conditions is something all of you should be proud of. Without all of you, we would have not been able to raise money for EACH to support families. So thank you once again, and we definitely won't be running anywhere for a while!
