Haroun is an English teacher from Zanzibar. He had been working as a snorkel guide for a local dive shop and was shocked about the state of the reefs, the fishing practices used by local fishermen, and the trash on the beaches of his island, Zanzibar. He tried talking to the fishermen and the local people by explaining the fragility of the environment and its ecosystems and the need to keep them clean and in good health. He realized that most people he spoke to didnt how important a healthy ocean was and decided to do something about it.
Haroun has launched his own organisation to educate and raise awareness, but also to inspire and motivate people in Zanzibar to make changes to protect the coral reefs of his island. However he has no funds to do this. All he has is his time and passion. We want to help Haroun achieve his aim and protect his ocean and we are asking for your support.
