Story
Dear Friends,
I am fortunate enough to have a home and even if I face problems, I have family or friends who could help me out. However, there are many people, who because of unfortunate circumstances, or increasingly because of the government's draconian policies regarding welfare benefits, find themselves homeless. The Clock Tower Sanctuary in my beloved Brighton helps homeless people on our streets and so I have decided to sleep outdoors on Monday 16th December to help raise awareness and money for this charity.
By supporting the work of The Clock Tower Sanctuary, you will be helping to change the lives of people just like Josh, 23 who first arrived at The Clock Tower Sanctuary day-centre with only a rucksack on his back, having slept rough on Brighton beach for the previous few nights. Josh's upbringing was chaotic and over time his home environment deteriorated to the point he could no longer stay. Josh visited the day centre daily, working with a volunteer case worker. The Sanctuary provided Josh a mobile phone, so he was contactable and they helped him with benefit issues, supported him at housing meetings and with building his CV. With this guidance, Josh was able to find a job at a local community kitchen and with this steady employment, he was able to secure a room at a new housing trust. Josh has said "I feel like I've found a career I can now train in, rather than moving between cash in hand jobs. The Clock Tower Sanctuary believed in me and that feeling is priceless."
I would be grateful for whatever you can do to help me raise money to support more people like Josh to change their lives for the better.
Thank you in advance for any sponsorship you provide.
Best wishes,
Ashok
