I’ve decided to run the London Marathon this year as last year I saw firsthand the devastating effects a cancer diagnosis can have on a young family. Whilst everyone understands the seriousness of cancer you do not truly understand the effect this has on the person - but even more so, the family - until it happens to someone close to you.
In June 2019 a close friend of mine’s daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia having been ill but undiagnosed for a period of time. The impact of the diagnosis was devastating and immediate for all.
The family needed not only practical support, help and advice but also emotional and phycological support for them and Amelie.
This is where CLIC Sargent come in. CLIC have been incredible in supporting the family! A CLIC social worker spends time with the whole family on a regular basis and provides emotional, practical and financial support and advice. CLIC have also supported the school in which Amelie and her brother go to giving training and advice to staff to ensure the children continue to thrive during a difficult time.
Amelie has been inspirational and the way she has approached and wins each part of the journey is simply incredible. She continues to smile and tackle leukaemia head on and there’s only going to be one winner in this battle!
Thank you in advance for your generous donations and thank you for helping Amelie, and other children (and families) affected by this terrible illness!
