I'm sure the thought of me doing physical exercise is a source of much hilarity to you all. I have zero athletic prowess, I hated PE at school, and the only 'sporting' trophy I possess is for table tennis at Pontin's holiday camp.
But on October 1st, providing we listen to a two-hour health and safety lecture, the airport authority are allowing a midnight run down the main runway at Gatwick. The runway is 3300m long and all money raised goes to the children's charity UNICEF.
I know 3.3km is not exactly a marathon, but to an average Joe like me, it is a bit of a challenge. The last time I ran 2 miles was when I was at comprehensive School, and I was being chased by a pack of skinheads at the time.
