Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am donating over 15" of my hair to the Little Princess Trust in February, so that a child who has lost their hair, because of cancer treatment, alopecia or other illness, can feel more like themself again.
Alongside donating my hair, I want to raise money for the charity to help cover the cost of them turning my hair into a wig.
I have wanted to help out a charity for a long time now, but I have not known which charity to help or the best way to do so... I can't run, I'm terrified of heights and my baking is abysmal... So instead I tried to think about what means a lot to me... My hair.
I have had long hair for as long as I can remember and - as with a lot of people - it is part of what makes me, me. Anyone who knows me will understand what my hair means to me and how nervous I am of changing it so dramatically. But as I've got older I have begun to understand that I am very fortunate to have something that I love and that I can take for granted.
There are things that I would love to be able to change about myself and I thought, what would be better than giving a child the ability to change the most immediately noticeable impact of their illness? I can regrow my hair if I so choose, these poor children are being deprived of the most magical time of their lives, and giving them the gift of hair will go at least some way to allowing them to experience the joys of childhood without feeling uncomfortable or "different".
Please help to give a child their identity back by donating whatever you can.
