Story
In October 2020, 6 months in the pandemic, I hit a low. I was down, comfort eating and struggling to motivate myself at all. Like many people, the pandemic hit my mental health hard and I decided enough was enough.
I set myself two targets for 2021, one was to lose 3 stone and the other to run a half marathon.
Running became my release, my headspace. It gave me the much needed mental boost and motivation that I needed to pick myself back up and get my overall health back on track.
Although I still feel like I have a little way to go in terms of my weight/fitness, I am now 3 stone down and I’m feeling stronger and fitter than ever..
So now it’s time to take on challenge number 2!
On the 17th October, I will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon. Not only am I running for my own personal motivation, I have decided to run for Charity.
With the past 18 months that charities have had, I feel honoured to be pushing myself to raise money for such an incredible charity like East Anglian Air Ambulance.
East Anglian Air Ambulance exists to save lives by delivering highly skilled doctors and critical care paramedics by air or car to seriously ill or injured people in the region. They are a life-saving charity that is only kept airborne thanks to their supporters.
I may now pretend that I’m a bit of a runner, but having never run more than 13km, 13.1 miles will certainly be a challenge!!
If you could spare any pennies at all towards my painful journey (I have the blisters as proof!) I would be eternally grateful!
Much love,
Ashleigh xx
