Story
Well here goes… On the 23rd April 2023, my short wobbly legs will be running 26.2 miles around the iconic London Marathon. I was lucky enough to get a ballot place, which is a real once in a lifetime opportunity. It'll be my biggest physical challenge yet, and will take a heck of a lot of training! 😱😅
As I start my third decade, I’d like to use this fantastic platform to raise £3,000 in celebration of the most special and important people to me, who have hugely impacted my life so far. Upon hitting my first target of £1,000, I will then setup another page for a second charity - followed by a third.
Starting with my beautiful Mom, Sue, on what would have been her 56th birthday. 🎈
St Giles Hospice gave exceptional end of life care for Mom. After she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2016, they also provided her emotional and practical support during treatment - support I was unable to give. I covered my ears when Mom spoke to me about visiting the hospice in Whittington, but now it holds a very special place in my heart. Their wonderful nurses and volunteers could not do enough for her during her final few days. Following her every wish, letting me and our family stay right by her side - including our dog, Mac too!
I’m so lucky to have had a Mom I can call a best friend. I miss her more than words can say, but her morals, positive determination and love for life will remain with me, always. She’d also be so surprised I’m running a marathon, as we both hated to run. I really hope to make her proud, and in her memory, raise funds to say thank you to this very special charity too! 🧡
