Story
How many times have I looked into my closet, overflowing with clothes, and thought 'I have nothing to wear'? But that’s of course not true. I have more than enough choice -- far more than over 13 million people in the UK who live each day in poverty.
Please help me make poverty unfashionable!
During London Fashion Week, I am participating in the Junior League of London's (JLL) Little Black Dress Initiative. From 20-24 February 2017, I will wear the same black dress for five days to raise awareness of how poverty can limit access to resources, confidence and employment opportunities. At the end of the campaign, I will donate my dress to SmartWorks, a charity that helps women on low incomes prepare for job interviews.
Did you know that 27% of Londoners live below the poverty line? And that poverty is often cyclical, locking successive generations into the trap of low incomes and social exclusion?
The JLL's vision is of a London where each person has the opportunity and means to prosper. It provides volunteers and resources to support community programmes centred on eliminating poverty and its effects in London.
Through your support of the JLL's Little Black Dress Initiative, together we can make poverty unfashionable!

Thank you!
