Story
As a group of friends, we have travelled the world together on various trips, holidays, and excursions. We have always loved sport and would often find a physical challenge to take on for our own benefit, however we felt it was time we did something to help raise some much-needed funds for some fantastic charities. Our team is planning to climb all 3 of the tallest peaks in the UK in just 24 hours!!!! The team of 5 will start at the base of Ben Nevis at 5pm on Friday the 26th of May, we will ascend and descend this peak and then head to Scafell Pike. We will start the Scafell pike climb at 3am and complete this for around 7am. For the last leg we will drive to Snowdon in North Wales and aim to start at around 11am and complete the last climb and descent before 5pm. We will be supported on this journey by James Quigley who will be doing the driving. This is a tough challenge both physically and mentally, as climbing over 10,000 ft, walking 23 miles and sleep will be extremely limited as we must start driving as soon as we finish each climb. However, we are determined to do it and beat the 24-hour clock. The team have chosen to support both Mentell and The Christies. Mentell offer a safe place for Men 18+ to talk. Did you know that 1 in 4 people suffer from mental health issues? Did you know that suicide is the biggest killer of Men under 35? Mentells mission is to connect men with support networks to help them through the tough moments. The Christie is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe and the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. They treat more than 60,000 patients a year. Our team have been personally affected by Cancer and believe strongly in trying to support the fantastic work the Christie continue to do year after year.
