Story
Blood Cancer is the third biggest killer in the UK (after lung and bowel) claiming more than 15,000 people each year and counts for more deaths than Breast and Prostate Cancer. Blood Cancer is the 5th most common type of cancer in the UK and predictions suggest that 40,000 people will be diagnosed in 2021.
Some club members will know that shortly after joining Ashford Manor I was diagnosed with Lymphoma and underwent both Chemo and Radiotherapy so I understand some of the side effects from the harsh treatments.
As a result I have a keen interest in the development of new treatments, which will improve people's chances of survival and reduce the devastating impact of sufferers future lives, particularly youngsters.
Blood Cancer UK is a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. They do this by funding research and supporting those affected.
Since 1960, they have invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, their community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
I know that everyone supports the charities that mean a lot to them but if you are able to give any support to my chosen charity I will be very grateful.
Thank you
Mary Dowsett
