Back in 2007 things hit home for me when close family members were diagnosed with Cancer and a friend fought but didn’t survive the disease. I did what I could at the time, supported them as best I could and raised a few hundred pounds by running the inaugural Coed-Y-Brenin Trail Half Marathon. It was estimated at the time that Cancer affected approximately one in three people...
Now only a few years later my Mother has fought 3 types of Cancer; more of my friends are also being diagnosed and suffering daily against it. Today it is now a fact that one in two people born after 1960 in the UK will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime.
I’ve seen first-hand the difference in drugs and treatments available
today from when Cancer first affected my life. Things have moved on
immeasurably, and that’s all down to the research carried out by scientists in the pursuit of a cure. Vital progress is being made into the prevention, early diagnosis and better treatment of all forms of Cancer.
Because of this I’m raising money for Cancer Research Wales to assist them in their fight against Cancer, as they offer hope to people with cancer, and to their families.
The end goal of this fundraising attempt is to walk the Great Wall of China between the 13th & 21st May 2017. I will be running events
for the next few months in order to reach the fundraising target, or you can donate your support via my JustGiving page. This will be a huge challenge and a massive £3000 goal has been set. All your support will be hugely appreciated and will go towards Cancer Research Wales and the amazing work they do.
