WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good.

Story

Two teams from Arup Leeds will be taking the long journey to Glen Nevis to take part in WaterAid's Munro Challenge on 12th June. The event aims to put a team on the top of each of Scotland's munros and mountains over 3,000 feet in England, Wales and Ireland between 12 noon and 2pm.

Our teams will be climbing An Gearanach and Mullach nan Coirean to help raise money to support people in the developing world providing access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene education.

Why?

Because:

  • 884 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly one in eight of the world's population. (WHO/UNICEF)
  • 2.6 billion people in the world do not have access to adequate sanitation, this is almost two fifths of the world's population. (WHO/UNICEF)
  • WaterAid want to change this with the help of your money
  • £15 can enable one person to access safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation for life
  • £50 is enough for two days of hygiene education training in a village in Tanzania
