We're asking you to remember Mary and Joseph Chimwanza's Christmas story and donate to help save lives in childbirth.

Story

Arthur is a very fortunate little boy from before and since he has entered the world. He has received a lot of love, generosity and many gifts. Due to your thoughtfulness and kindness he doesn't want for anything. As Arthur is soon to turn one, his parents Joe and Chloë kindly wish you to consider as a birthday gift to him sparing a few pounds for this amazing charity and/or seeing him for a smily dribbly hug.

Arthur is fortunate to have kind loving friends and family and also a fit and well mother. Although Arthur's entry into the world was rather straightforward for him, his quick late stage arrival meant an emergency hospital trip and procedure for Chloë. All possible due to excellent NHS maternity 'free' care.

Maternity Worldwide is a charity very close to Chloë's heart as she has seen their work first hand while volunteering at a hospital in Gimbie, Ethiopia.

Childbirth is still risky, painful and frightening for women in sub-Saharan Africa. Every year 287,000 women die in childbirth; 99% in low-income countries. Most deaths can be avoided easily and cheaply through measures which are readily available in the UK. Please support Maternity Worldwide and help them make sure unnecessary deaths in childbirth become consigned to history, rather than remaining a fact of 21st century life. A donation could provide a safe birth and follow-up care, cover the training of a student midwife or contribute towards the cost of a caesarean delivery.

Thank you

Love Arthur
