Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page! Hallam (1 year 3 months) and I (41 this weekend) are planning to run a half-marathon on July 12th, 2020 to raise funds for the Glacier Trust. Well, Hallam is not actually running but he is setting me the tough challenge of pushing him (a 13 kilo/28lb giant of a baby, plus his running buggy, snacks, drinks and favourite toys, etc. etc.) around the whole course, whilst feeding him rice crackers, changing his diaper and breathlessly singing Old McDonald on repeat.....
The Glacier Trust was already doing an incredible job of assisting and educating people in remote Nepal to adapt to climate change, as well as raising awareness of the issue on an international level. Because TGT is already so well established and networked into local communities there, they are able to directly deliver relief to combat the current Covid-19 crisis, such as in their Soap and Hope appeal (https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/soapandhope). Hence your donation is working two-fold in giving the urgent care needed now as well as providing for their future livelihoods.
We truly hope that in these difficult times you can spare a few pennies to assist. As I write this, Hallam is really taking the challenge to heart/stomach, working on gaining a few more pounds before Sunday just to make those hills all the more painful!
*****Extra Info******
Covid regulations and running with a buggy means that I can't actually take part in an official event, but I’ll be running with GPS and Hallam and I will stop to take a few sweaty scenic photos on the way as a form of proof.
For those of you concerned for Hallam’s health and safety,
let me assure you that I regularly take him on 5-10km runs (though this is the first and probably last time I’ll do over 20km with him, he honestly weighs a tonne!). He enjoys it immensely and being loud and stubborn, HE, not I, will be dictating the pace, the number of stops etc. along the way. I also reserve the right to postpone or complete the event on another day if conditions (heat, etc.) are not suitable for him.
