Story
This year I am running the virgin money london marathon again. I was given a place with shooting star chase, which is the charity that support my son Ted and my family. We have been involved with SSC for 6 years now and thought after the success of my marathon run last year and smashing the target i thought id have another go 🤣.
We have been supported by SSC through all of Ted's ups and downs over the years, we get 12 nights a year respite and we can use the facilities at Christopher's in Guildford as and when we like, they have a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room soft play and much more. The cost of care at chase is £650 a night per child!! I have a minimum of £2000 to raise which as you can see doesn't go far but will make a massive difference. SSC is a truly beautiful and inspiring place and my family and I would be lost without them.
My son is 7 years old now and has a rare genetic life limiting condition called aicardi goutieres syndrome. It's a very complex condition and as a result he needs 24 hour care.
Ted is a cheeky little dude full of determination, loads of character and has a great sense of humour.! Although he can't speak he understands everything and communicates with yes and no head movements. Ted is an insiration to me i am so proud to be his dad, he will join me on training runs with a specialized chair so we can run together, its a great way for us to spend quality time together. It's not just Ted who benefits from the love and care that SSC provide!. We meet lots of other family's in the same position as us, we have made friends for life at Christopher's and its these people that will be in my thoughts as i prepare and run the 26.2 miles 😣
I hope my story will encourage you to give shooting star chase a worthy donation and help smash my target for this amazing charity!!
