Story
At Arrow Business Communications, we have created a team of six to take part in this summer's 'Tri with Access Sport'.
Access Sport are working to combat shocking levels of exclusion, hardship and poor health faced by millions in the UK today. For example:
Health - The UK has the highest level of childhood obesity in Europe, with 1 in 5 children obese by the time they leave primary school.
Exclusion - Disabled people are 4x more likely to be out of work than non-disabled people. Only 18% of disabled people regularly engage in sport, despite 70% wanting to.
Hardship - More than 50% of children in the UK's poorest areas are now growing up in poverty. Poverty is also experience by nearly 50% of all families in which there is a disabled person.
They do this by:
- Developing community sports clubs, providing transformational development opportunities for young people, irrespective of their background and ability.
- Building, equipping and up-skilling local sports clubs
- Training and supporting volunteer sports coaches and club leaders
