Story
I work as a kidney specialist in the NHS in Sheffield and my daughter Sufiya works in marketing in London. We have decided to cycle through historic Palestine to raise money for the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). This will be a tough ride for us but particularly for Sufiya, who has not ridden a bike for quite some time! The ride takes us from the heights of Taybeh down through the Jordan Valley to the Dead Sea at the lowest level on earth, whilst passing through the cities such as Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
However difficult the training for this arduous ride will be, it is nothing compared the the difficulties that many Palestinians face in accessing basic medical care. Through our Palestinian friends we have come to understand and identify with the daily struggle that Palestinians faces as a result of occupation, conflict and displacement. We want to raise money for MAP because they are committed to reaching the most vulnerable communities and ensure they receive the best healthcare available in difficult conditions. Their vital work provides medical aid to Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.
We know times are difficult and there are many worthy causes to support - we are truly grateful for those of you who are able to sponsor us
