Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have always been terrible at running. In PE at school, the rest of the class would run around the track, followed by the girl with the gammy leg, followed by me, limping and gasping. When kids were picking teams, I would always be picked last, and there would be audible groans from the team unlucky enough to have me in it.
I’m now almost 35 years old and can’t run for the bus without breathing more heavily than Darth Vader. So I am going to use the NHS’s Couch to 5K app, and have signed up for a 5K on July 7th, the week of my 35th birthday. Running 5km seems virtually impossible, but I’m determined to do it – because now I have a reason.
Most of us will have looked at the news in the last year, particularly in the Middle East, and wished there was more we could do. MSF do amazing work providing medical care where it is most urgently needed, including in conflict areas such as Syria and Yemen, and I would love to be able to raise £2,500 to help them treat more people.
£53 can cover the cost of sending a doctor to the field for a day; £95 can provide a year’s treatment for a person living with HIV/AIDS; and £153 can provide life-saving blood transfusions for three people. Even if you can only afford £5, it will make a difference. Please donate instead of sending me a card or getting me a birthday present this year, and help save lives.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. You are welcome to come and see me on the run, and will be able to view pictures of my pink sweaty face online afterwards! Thank you so much for your generosity - I am truly grateful.
