Ariane's Move For Mind

300 miles in 30 days · 3 January 2022
Despite my hatred of exercise and terrible physical fitness, I have decided to cycle 300 miles in the next 30 days for Brecon & District Mind. Realised I forgot to put a start date - I'm starting on Tuesday, January 4 (tomorrow) with the aim of finishing on February 3.
EDIT: I had to take a break and postpone due to health reasons but I am planning to resume the challenge and finish by the end of March. I'll post more details in an update soon.
Brecon Mind is an incredible asset to the town and honestly, I believe they saved my life while helping me on my own journey a few years ago. The support I had from them during one of the most difficult parts of my life was second to none and I will forever be grateful - I have wanted to do something to say thank you for a while, so when Move For Mind was advertised, I knew this was it!
I have chosen 300 miles because back in 2017, I used to travel via public transport from my then home in Pontyclun to Brecon to work everyday - going via the T4 from Cardiff. I used to travel approximately 120 miles a day or 600 miles a week just getting to and from work. I had help getting home from a good friend/colleague from Cardiff, but 300 of those miles getting to work were across two buses over three hours - no, I don't know how I did it looking back either. Some of the mileage however is my added walk from the Brecon office to Brecon Mind everyday at the time.
Brecon & District Mind needs your support this winter! the Move for Mind challenge is a great way to get involved and we are so grateful to all of our supporters; the work we do would not be possible without you.
