Story
Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
Those of you that know me well will know the reason I have chosen this charity is that, back in 2008 I was officially diagnosed with both rheumatoid arthritis and hypermobility syndrome. This wasn't something that happened overnight and my diagnosis was made after 4 years of joint problems, test, and chronic fatigue.
The NRAS support people with this condition in a number of ways from advice to practical support, and are lifeline to a lot of people. They also help promote awareness of the condition and provide clarity on the difference between osteo-arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
I know to a lot of people one mile isn't far to swim but for me this is a massive challenge, as on top the normal training troubles "healthy " people would face I will also be overcoming chronic fatigue and a lack mobilty in my shoulders as well as every day joint problems on top.
I should probably add that I have never before swum in open water, and the though of swimming in the Thames fills me with fear !
I know that in today's world everyone is asking for sponsership for an array of challenges , but I would be so grateful to anyone who felt they could make a donation in support of my challenge and the NRAS.
