Story
On the 19th of June, I will be setting off for a solo bikepacking adventure from Lands End to John o' Groats via the GB Divide route. This runs about 1200 miles through England, Wales and Scotland, both on and off road with about 89,000 feet of climbing.
I plan to complete the route in 10 days which means I'll need to average 120 miles per day, so this will be a huge challenge, but one I very much look forward to! (I might miss my train home otherwise..!)
After enjoying lots of cycling adventures during furlough last year, I had a wild dream of cycling from Lands End to John o' Groats (LEJOG) on the GB Divide route. At the start of this year, I decided to turn that dream into action booking 2 weeks off work in June, ramping up my training and researching the necessary logistics to get me going.
Fast forward 10 weeks to the end of April, having gathered most of the necessary kit and arranged logistics for the main event, I rode for a couple of days in the Yorkshire Dales & Lake District to test everything out. This was the confidence point I needed for the main event.
With this in mind, I've decided to use the event to raise money for the Stroke Association in memory of my late Grandad. After suffering multiple strokes with deteriorating health at the end of his life, he sadly passed away at the end of 2020.
All donations are very much appreciated and will be 100% match funded by my employer Stannah!
