Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I will be running the London Marathon. This will be my second marathon for the same great cause - Children With Cancer UK.
In the UK, cancer is the most common cause of death in children aged 1-14 years, accounting for around one-fifth of deaths in this age group - this is just one of the few harrowing statistics surrounding childhood cancer. Fortunately, thanks to great organisations such as these and the amazing medical facilities we have here the childhood cancer rate in the UK is the lowest in all of Europe and one of the lowest in the western world.
Cancer is something that affects the vast majority of us in one way or another, and I am a firm believer in the cause of doing everything I can to get it to jog on! I have unfortunately had cancer surround me from a young age, having a brother who fought off a cancerous brain tumour and my fabulous mother who recently underwent some rather nasty chemotherapy due to breast Cancer. I also lost a very dear friend through Leukaemia, and I will be running this race for all three of them, knowing that what cancer patients go through is so much harder than a bloody marathon!
I was due to run this marathon a couple of years back but covid got in the way, so many thanks to people who already donated. My training regime certainly hasn't been the strongest, due to constant injury and a rather large summer. I would be so grateful for any donation no matter what size. This is truly such a great cause and combined with the thought of me in utter discomfort at mile 23 surely is worth you chucking a few quid in here.
Thanks guys and see you at the finish line. xx
