Story
Arcadian's and their families across the UK and Ireland are challenging themselves in support of Action for Children this summer by undertaking various treks and bicycle rides.
At the Epping Forest Event on Saturday 18th June Arcadian will be hoping not to get lost in the woods while completing treks of up to 30km or undertaking cycling rides up to 100 miles, including our two forest challenge, cycling between Epping Forest and Hatfield Forest.
Every pound donated is going directly to supporting Children in the UK who are facing significant challenges. It is heart-breaking to know there are thousands of children across the UK, who are growing up without the basic things that every child deserves - like a proper bed, warm clothes and healthy meals. This is evidenced by statistical data – 31% of UK children are projected to grow up in poverty and 20% to suffer from some form of physical, emotional or negligent abuse before the age of 16.
We, as Arcadians, have an opportunity to change this through raising of funds for Action for Children through this challenge event. By raising funds we will directly support Action for Children and the 600,000 people they help every year. Our fundraising will go supporting Action for Children in 3 areas – paying for counselling services, a financial emergency fund for families to access in times of need and refurbishment of a community garden in Birmingham.
