Story
On November 25 1990 our Branch was born. One of the original founders, Neil Kirkland is still very active in the Branch and tells us of the first cats taken in to care, a six month old ginger male called Marmalade and his mother, Pumpkin. From this small start grew the very busy, thriving branch we have today. We moved to our current premises at 15 Kinaldie Holdings, outside Arbroath, in 1998. The adoption Centre there has grown over the years and we home between 400-500 cats from there every year. We have recently had to take on the work of two other volunteer branches with the closure of Forfar & District and Montrose & Brechin so the pressure on our funds has increased. To that end we would like to appeal to our many supporters for '£3 for 3 DECADES'. (more if they feel generous)
With the closure of the Adoption Centre at Dundee we are extending our efforts to offer help to cats in that city also. Our vet bills last year came to over £35,000. That doesn't include the cost of neutering and microchipping, a service that we offer to assist those owners who would have difficulty in meeting those costs for a variety of reasons. Our Adoption Centre takes in cats from other branches all over Scotland where their waiting lists of cats waiting for admission become strained. Our wonderful bunch of volunteers care for the cats in all weathers and get great satisfaction in seeing cats of all ages getting the chance of a loving home.
Thank you so much for your support and to all our volunteers for their passion and hard work. We could not do this without you.
