Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On July 19th, I leave the UK to volunteer for 10 weeks on a development programme in Malawi! This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most (www.volunteerics.org).
I’ll be working alongside volunteers from Malawi and living with a Malawian host family, on a project that focuses on youth development issues. I will work with youth organisations in and around Mzuzu, which utilise a wide range of extracurricular activities from sports, arts and IT, to engage young people on social, health and educational issues.
Whilst the Department for International Development covers 90% of the costs, I need to raise £800 for Lattitude Global Volunteering, who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS (www.lattitude.org.uk). The money I raise does not go toward my placement, but is reinvested back into the ICS programme so that 7,000 young people from the UK and overseas can take part in similar projects.
Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep! I'll be doing various fundraising activities in order to reach my target (bag-packing, car boots, 'Living Below the Line...'), so check back to keep an eye on my progress.
Thanks for your support!
