Story
Meet a team of 4, Dave, Jess, Gabrielle and Nick, taking on Battle Cancer, part of the 17 teams from Aphobos Crossfit all doing the same.
No showboating here, just pure grit to raise money for a great cause. We're diving into a fitness event that's not about showing off – it's about making lunges that matter, and turning pushups into progress.
We've all had our run-ins with that uninvited guest in life's party – cancer. It doesn't care who you are; it touches us all in one way or another. We're doing this so others don't need to fight as hard, or have to fight at all (statistically 1 in 2 of us are affected at some point in their life).
Personally I lost my Dad to lung cancer when I was 30 and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. But the research extended his life for 2 years beyond the diagnosis, and the specialist care he got in the latter days as a direct result of donations to charities like this was fantastic.
Unfazed by Intervals
10 minutes getting drenched in our own sweat doing HIIT/Crossfit. 20 minutes to question our life choice and get some breath back.
5. Times. Over. Every time a different workout...but the same pain. All for a great cause.
Donate for change
Cancer Research UK's got the spotlight as they tackle cancer head-on. Our approach? Hitting those reps and sweating it out, likely unable to walk right the rest of the week.
Your move? Donate and make your mark. No need to don workout gear to donate – but deep pockets and longer arms would be nice (unfortunately JustGiving doesn't allow us to collect cash however).
Whether you're a crossfit games athlete or occasional stretcher, your donation to Cancer Research UK is like giving cancer the middle finger. Check out their work here: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/our-research.
It's more than just sweat – it's our chance to show cancer we're not going anywhere,, one 10-minute sweat fest at a time.
