Story
On the 21st of November 2022 my dad unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack at home. I was able to see first hand the team at Wiltshire Air Ambulance try everything in their power to keep my dad with us but sadly it was out of their control. Even though my dad did not make it, it brought great comfort to know that anything that could’ve been tried was tried.
I’ve learnt a lot about my dad since he passed away, a lot of things I wish I knew before as I would’ve loved to talk to him about them. He discovered in the last few years how much I enjoyed sports and I know that he would’ve enjoyed talking to me about this experience.
Since my dad died I’ve been thinking of a way I can honour his memory and make him proud, as well as raising some money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance so that they can continue the work that they do. So I have signed up to the Bath half marathon, I am not a runner and have always found running hard which is all the more reason why I wanted to do it! Since losing my dad my heart really has been hurting but going out on these training runs knowing my end goal, and knowing I’d be making my dad proud has been great.
The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is not funded by the government and receives no National Lottery grants costing around £11,000 per day to keep running.
I have set a goal to raise £1500 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and I would be so grateful if people are able to donate or even just to follow along on my journey though GoFundMe or Strava, any moral support would also be much appreciated as I know this is going to be a tough challenge.
Thank you for taking the time out to read about my upcoming challenge xx
