Story
Anthony’s cancer treatment took place at The Christie, a specialist cancer hospital close to where we live in Manchester, and we all spent a lot of time there over the past year. The Christie is both a cutting-edge research centre and a wonderful caring place with great support for patients and their families. Everyone there – consultants, nurses, catering staff – would always take the time to talk to patients and get to know them individually, and many people told us that they were proud to work there and wouldn’t ever work anywhere else. Anthony witnessed many many acts of kindness and care during his time on the wards and we all felt that he was in the best possible place for his treatment.
We would like to raise as much money as possible so we can contribute to two causes. In the first instance, we would like to buy some comfortable reclining chairs for the wards, for relatives keeping overnight vigils with patients. Anthony’s dad Pete spent many nights by his bedside and we know this makes a real difference for those supporting people with cancer. All remaining funds will go towards research into cancers of unknown primary.
Thank you so much for your donation. Anthony felt strongly that he wanted to give something back to The Christie and would be so pleased to see such love and generosity here.
