Story
I am throwing myself at another challenge. This time it's to conquer the Olympic London road course. I haven't ridden a bicycle in several decades and I have never ridden 100 miles.
That's what I have now signed up to do to support AfriKids, a wonderful charity which won the International Charity of the Year award in 2015.
AfriKids was set up to protect children in northern Ghana, where more than half of all families live in abject poverty. AfriKids helps to give children there the protection, health and education they need to escape poverty for good. Its work is entirely led by local staff with a simple approach of listening to communities and empowering them to make sustainable changes themselves.
My daughter, Isla, works for AfriKids and has witnessed first hand the fantastic work which the charity does helping local communities to help themselves.
