In July 2020 after coming out of the first lockdown my wife
Phillipa suffered a serious accident when thrown from a horse. Phillipa was airlifted to A&E at Walton where she had a 5hr operation and placed in recovery. Unfortunately, the nature of the fall caused an
incomplete spinal cord injury which sadly at this moment in time has
left Phillipa tetraplegic. Phillipa was moved to Southport spinal unit
and during her recovery contracted hospitalised pneumonia nearly not making it but for the incredible medical team. Subsequently Phillipa moved to the Robert Jones and Agnus Hunt orthopaedic hospital for rehabilitation.

At Portal golf club we have a history of our Captains nominating charities. I am so proud and honoured to be Captain for Portal golf club during 2021. I am Raising Funds for the two hospitals mentioned that have had a profound effect on our lives. I appreciate things have changed a lot over the last year and for some things maybe tight. All I ask is that you donate only what you can.

We have been used to an ‘R’ number recently, unlike the negative 'R'
number we know of I want to generate a positive ‘R’ number for my chosen charities, in fact you could do something absolutely amazing by just donating £1 or $1 and pass my JustGiving link onto your friends and connections, if they do the same imagine what we can all achieve together.

There are not enough words I can find to recognise the
brilliantly talented, endlessly devoted medical and nursing teams in the NHS. I would like to keep funds as equal as possible. So the funds we raise will go directly towards providing necessary equipment for patient rehabilitation at both hospitals.

The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Charity raises funds to support patients and its staff to ensure we achieve our ambition to deliver world class patient care. It achieves this through fundraising and supporting others to fundraise on our behalf. Ensuring we have an open and honest approach in line with the fundraising regulations. We strive to make things better for patients and staff alike. We will raise awareness of the charity and the hospital, ensuring that we are maximising fundraising to the benefit of all.
