Story

When I was just 19 years old, I met Heidi Lording.  We were in a group that night of 50 mixed friends, on a coach, on route to a club in Birmingham.  We hit it off immediately and that night we tore up the dance floor and many, many more after that.  Over the next 20 years my friendship with Heidi was something I would come to treasure deeply.

She was everything you could ever want, or hope to find in a someone. So much fun, so adventurous, just a pure pleasure to be around.  The time we spent, the fun times and adventures we shared will all be memories I will hold in my heart forever.

In 2013, Heidi fell ill while visiting friends in Milton Keynes and returned to Paris where she was living at the time.  Shortly after, Heidi was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and after an amazing fight that inspired us all, Heidi slipped away... peacefully and surrounded by friends and family.

I miss my friend everyday.  Taking part in this event and raising money for this charity will not only hold Heidi close, but help raise awareness and I'm sure much needed funds.

(Plus I'm sure she's somewhere laughing at me, Venetta, Kate and friends, dragging ourselves through muddy obsticles and underwater, whilst running 10k in the middle of winter in her name!

Thank you for any support x

We are the UK’s leading ovarian cancer research charity. In the UK only 1 in 3 women live more than 10 years after diagnosis. We are working to better prevent, treat and detect ovarian cancer, so that by 2032 at least half of women with ovarian cancer live for 10 years.
