Anthony
Hey folks, thank you so very much for taking the
time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you are already aware I am running the Robin Hood Half Marathon in
Nottingham on Sunday 13th September 2009. A Half Marathon course is just over thirteen miles
in length. I am currently aiming to complete the course in less than two hours,
I am well into my training for the half marathon and I am currently running twelve
miles in training and running under the two hour pace.
The only previous running event I have competed in was when I ran six miles for Sport Relief in 2008, so it has been a big step up for me as previously I had never run much further than six miles and the training so far has included being soaked by a bus on Trent Bridge and having Canadian Geese attempting to attack me, as well as seemingly constantly running in the pouring rain!
I have decided to raise some money for a charity that is close to my heart, as
many of you are undoubtedly aware I was born with a mild hearing loss and because
of this, I have to wear hearing aids in both ears. The RNID is a charity that
helps support and raise awareness about hearing related conditions in the UK, they are the largest charity to represent the nine million people who suffer from hearing problems in the United Kingdrom.
For more information about what the RNID, see further down on this page or
visit
www.rnid.org.uk. The website contains all sorts of information about
campaigns and a free online hearing check.

I would be extremely grateful for any sponsorship received,
even if you can only donate a small amount, every little helps.
For those who are interested in how I do, I will
make sure that I post on here and Facebook after the event. There will be
inevitably pictures taken by my Parents on the day.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this
and for sponsoring me, I am extremely grateful! And if you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
One week to go update! One week to go now, the nerves are starting to set especially with the rumours of the course being hilly affecting time, but I have been training constantly so the two hour mark should be well within my limits especially with race day adrenaline, just got to make sure that I don't set off to quickly. I am going to have a scout of the route later in the week via car as I have never run it before and don't want to run it blind.
I will no doubt send a message out reminding people of the sponsorship link as I have had quite a few people asking me what it is etc in the next few days.
Expandiong on my training, I ran a half marathon PB on Saturday 29th by around 4 minutes which has given me a lot of confidence and now I am trying to not do to uch running so I am fully rested before the race and when I am running not doing distances much more than 4 miles at a 13 mile pace.
Anyone who wants to come down next Sunday just let me know and i'll give you the details.
Just a reminder of the work that the RNID does and how much a hearing aid can change someones life.
My Grandma has recently just got a hearing aid and she is constantly telling me how it is incredible that she can now hear things like the double click of a car indicator (only previously being able to hear one) or the sound of leaves rustling when you walk on them, it may not seem much but not hearing those everyday sounds is a massive loss and thanks to the work done by both the RNID and the NHS it is possible for anyone with a hearing problem to now recevie world class treatment and often improve the hearing of the many people in the UK that suffer from hearing related problems.
Cheers
Anthony
