Story
11.10.09 Well I am still here (just - oh my god those last 3 miles nearly broke me - I thought I was running backwards!). I managed to complete the 13.1miles in 1hr 39mins and 46 seconds. On the one hand I am a little disappointed but on the other I soon realised I was never going to achieve what I was aiming for (about 10mins quicker) as it took me 7 minutes to cross the starting line and there was no-where to move to do anythng but a light jog for the first 4 or 5 miles - so many people. I also realise that you need to do at least a couple of 13 mile training runs (only did up to 10) as I was o.k up to there but those last 3 miles hurt hurt hurt! Most importantly I finished and I managed to sneak under 1 hour 40min so not too disappointed. Thanks one again for your kind sponsorship - it definately helped to push me round.
07.10.09 Quick update - training finished (thank god!). Now I am just trying to fight off a cold - great timing! I think I'll go for a small jog tomorrow saving my energy for the run on Sunday. A big thank you to all those who have sponsored me both on and off-line - I have got to finish now! I am hoping to get a little more so with with tax relief added and something from my employer I hope to get over £500 which will make it all worthwhile.
It seemed like a good idea at the time but now I am committed to running the 13+miles of the Brum half Marathon. I appreciate the current climate is not the best time to be sending people an e-mail asking for sponsorship. I did think whether to do it at all but then I thought, if I am going to have the physical pain then hopefully some of you will think it a worthwhile cause. Hopefully my children will never need to go somewhere like B'ham Children's hospital but, for those who do, I would hope they have the best care possible so anything you can afford, however small will be much appreciated.
