In 2003 my sister Marie got a kitten called Alfie from Warrington Cats Protection. In 2005 Marie, with her husband David and children Ellen, Joseph and Louise, emigrated to New Zealand. When they left Alfie came to live with us, he was our cat for 10 years before he died in 2015. Alfie was a good cat so I am running the Great North Run for Cats Protection in his memory.
I lived on Tyneside when I worked at Newcastle University 2014-15. Both years I ran the Great North Run for kitty cats.
I am also running to raise money for Sheffield Cats Shelter, see
